Ten Minutes of Trust

August 25, 2020 by Heidi Goehmann in mental health, community

Two important things about trust:

We were designed for trust in relationship with God.

&

We don’t have to trust everybody.

Who in your life taught you about trust? Who taught you that some people are trustworthy while others need firmer boundaries? Did these teachers use words or actions to help you understand these elements of trust?

Sometimes it can be difficult to even believe that God is trustworthy. Sometimes we need someone to tell us, but other times, we really need someone to outline for us how God is trustworthy, to show us in actions as well as words of Truth?

Sometimes in this life, we need someone to tell us that boundaries are good and trust is not trust if it’s blind and leads us into darkness and sadness. Other times, we need people to show us by setting their own boundaries and giving us space to build and grow in trust.

Pastor Matt Schuler and I walk through God’s trustworthiness and the place of trust in our lives in a media-driven, conspiracy-theory world in our latest podcast episode - Ten Minutes of Trust:

In the Ten Minutes of Series, we take a moment to ponder abstract concepts we often leave undefined or vague and far away, which can make them confusing and uncomfortable. Ten Minutes Of isn’t meant to explain the world, but it can improve our mental health by giving us a minute to consider some of the big mysterious pieces of life swirling all around us in any given moment.
