(insert drumroll here please)
We’re changing our name!
On July 1, 2019, ilovemyshepherd.com will transform into heidigoehmann.com. The good news: we’ll focus on mental health, relationships, and Jesus…just like always.
Here begins Heidi’s Top 5 reasons for Changing the Name of I Love My Shepherd:
1) The German Shepherd Conundrum
When you google I Love My Shepherd, you get about 20,000 pictures of German shepherds. I have tried to beat the German shepherd lovers at their game, but it’s not happening. It’s just not happening. I would like people to be able to find good articles and resources for mental health and genuine relationship, with some Jesus included, so it’s important people can find those instead of doggies, cute and furry as they may be.
2) X and Y Chromosomes
The title I Love My Shepherd is just not male friendly and lots of what I do is develop resources to change relationships, improve our mental health, and to change community within the church. That won’t happen if we’re only able to reach half the demographic.
3) Streamlining Social Media
Am I the only person who would like to spend a little less time on social media? ;) I doubt it. I love social media and I love connecting with all of you! But managing two+ social media accounts on every network is weighing down my calendar. I’d like to connect with you all and do it more intentionally, rather in my current harried fashion. Renaming my site will help me go down to one account for each social media space which will be a mix of personal stuff, article stuff, and adventuring stuff. I want to eat more ice cream with my family (albeit non-dairy) and visit with you more in-person, which means something has to give, and social media accounts is that something. :)
4) Being an Author
It’s pretty common for authors to have websites with their names…who knew?! Not me. But then again, who knew I’d be an author. Well, God did, so we’ll go with His plan instead of mine.
5) Less Vagueness, Straight to the Heart of the Matter
This website offers resources for mental health and genuine relationship, and a fair dose of hope in Jesus. Changing the name allows people to know that’s who I am and what they’ll get here right off the bat, rather than wondering what I Love My Shepherd stands for.
