Do We Need Answers? Coming Face-to-Face with the Mystery of God
What happens when we have questions?
I don’t mean little questions like where to eat dinner or which projects to tackle in a given day, but the big ones:
What should I do with my life?
Is this relationship a good one for me?
Does anyone notice me?
Who is God and does He care about my problems?
I think these questions make unbelievers uncomfortable. It’s why we don’t just dive into discussions about politics and religion within the first five minutes of a dinner party. However, I think these questions make believers, even believers in Jesus, uncomfortable also, and I think it’s time to be honest about that.
Do we need answers?
It’s uncomfortable partly because our God doesn’t usually have one right answer. Well, He does. He does have one right answer and His name is Jesus. But that doesn’t clear up every big question the way we would like it to, neat and tidy. It doesn’t check all the boxes and dot all the i’s. It does bring something better than concrete answers every time:
It brings relationship with the God of the Universe.
With Jesus, I can ask God every single question, every single time.
He is not offended. He is not distant.
He is both powerful & personal.
In today’s podcast we talk about getting comfortable in that uncomfortable place:
Coming face-to-face with the mystery of God, wrestling with a God who is both powerful and personal.
